This ELSEE teaching garden is located in Saratoga. Funds to design and build the garden were raised at a fundraising event to turn a large empty area into a garden with a stage and hillside seating to accomadate the entire elementary school population.
The California native insects featured in the mosaic artwork on the tabletops are specific to the California plant communities included in the ELSEE teaching garden. The design for the mosaics, as well as the tumbled art glass that represents water in the riparian habitat, was by Alrie and the execution was by Christina Yaconelli.
The habitats in the garden included oak woodland grassland, riparian, costal bluff, and chaparral.
